If you’ve ever dreamed of having the opportunity to experience la dolce vita (but the rural version), Airbnb is offering four individuals the chance to spend three months living as a local in the Italian village of Grottole through its Italian Sabbatical program.

The winners will be invited to spend the summer exploring the Italian countryside in Grottole, which is located in the province of Matera, in the Basilicata region of southern Italy.
During the all-expenses-paid sabbatical, the four participants will have the chance to explore the quaint area, which comes complete with 10th-century castles, rolling valleys, olive groves, and caves where locals produce their own wine.
If you are interested – then you can apply and find more information right here.
If you wan´t to join me and explore Italy’s secret wine treasures – in Umbria and Marche in October 2019, you can read more about that trip right here.
The Marche and the Umbria region offer exciting and characteristic medieval history, beautiful unexplored nature and fine coastlines. I have to mention the beautiful towns of Assisi, Urbino as well as Ascoli Piceno – and beautiful beach towns such as Grottamare, Portonovo or Sirolo, with its picturesque neighborhood about 100 m above sea level.
Inside the country we find the charming medieval towns on the hillside surrounded by beautiful green landscapes.
On this trip we will enjoy the beautiful atmosphere, drink the lovely wines and eat at pleasant places. We are going to cook wonderful food and learn how to make pasta – and of course we will also get to know many of the great and warm people in this lovely Italian region.
We take a step east from Tuscany to enter a wonderful, undiscovered and less influenced area than the mass tourism of Tuscany. Do you want´to join the tour? Read more about it here.
