The right time for a wonderful holiday in Norway is NOW

If you have Norway on your bucket list over fantastic holiday destinations, then you should continue reading. The Norwegian krone is extremely poor, so the right time to go to Norway – is now! Just think about it for a minute or two, and then – if you decide to travel to the adventurous Land of the Vikings, my best advice is to skip Oslo.

Our capital is a rather poor representative of Norway; meaning our fantastic nature, our unique culture and distinctive history – and to be honest, Oslo is basically quite boring if we compare it with capitals around Europe.

Instead, set course for beautiful Bergen and the western part of Norway, or even better – head up north!

Magical northern lights and beautiful midnight sun

Does magical northern lights and beautiful midnight sun, high mountain peaks, chalk white beaches and crystal clear sea, and a warm bath in the outdoor bathtub with a whisky in your hand while the moose graze nearby seems alluring to you? Then my wonderful place – Villa Reipå in Meløy is the right place for you. GoogleMap.

The beautiful coast and the picturesque Meløy Alps are just as beautiful and spectacular as Lofoten, but with less queues, stress and tourists – and better accessibility. The majestic mountains invite you to wonderful summit hikes in one of Norway’s most beautiful natural areas. In fact, the Meløy Alps offers some of the wildest off-piste skiing in Northern Norway, so this holiday destination offers great experiences all year round.

Live like Lucky Luke

Only three minutes from the ocean you will find Villa Reipå, an idyllic farmhouse located on a large, sunny and unashamed property close to the village’s beautiful river and lake. The property has a barn with a bar and lounge, as well as an outdoor shower and outdoor bathtub in the yard.

A nice warm bath in the outdoor bathtub or an outdoor shower while the moose graze nearby is truly an exotic experience. You might also bring shampoo and a towel, and stroll down to the beautiful river with chalky white sandy bottom that borders the plot to take a bath there. It is highly recommended.

Live like a true cowboy – or Lucky Luke!

In the barn you can enjoy a cold beer in the worlds longest bar at Reipå – the Lucky Luke bar, or you can watch a football match or a romantic movie on screen using the barn’s monitor. Notice; BYO – Bring your own bottle, the property does not sell food or alcohol.

You might also enjoy a glass of wine or an ice-cold beer, and perhaps a delicious cigar beyond the light hours of the Midnight Sun on the terrace – or be fascinated by the magical autumn light that colors the surrounding mountains in a romantic autumn splendor before the Northern Lights later the same day seduces you with its merry green dance across the night sky as darkness falls.

If you have children, they can frolic out in the yard or in the barn among many old treasures and create their own little adventurous world, free from computer games and SOME, or hunt foxes and hares, or carve birdhouses. Villa Reipå is an adventurous place for both young and old.

In the idyllic main house you will find four lovely bedrooms with beds for 7. The cozy kitchen inspires good dining experiences all day long. On the stone steps facing south you might enjoy a steaming fresh morning coffee while the rest of the world comes to life. Surrounded by peaceful and idyllic nature, your soul will both be happy and grateful.

The birthplace of Norway’s funniest book series

If it rains, you just fire up the fireplace in the cozy living room and read a good book, perhaps one by the owner and the author herself. Her popular books about Lotte-Marie, Norway’s answer to Harry Hole and Varg Veum, can be found in the house – and ps, the heroine Lotte-Marie was born and raised in Villa Reipå.

In the large, idyllic river that borders the plot, as well as the beautiful Markvatnet in walking distance you can swim and have a barbecue, or rent a boat and fish for salmon og sea trout to the delight of both young and old. If you prefer white beaches and a swim in the ocean or surfing, the sea is open 24/7.

Welcome to Villa Reipå – book at AirBnB.

A mountain hike or two to one of the peaks in the majestic Meløy Alps or a trip out to the beautiful island kingdom is highly recommended.

In summertime you can enjoy a glass of wine or an ice-cold lokal beer and perhaps a delicious cigar in the light hours of the midnight sun on the west-facing terrace – or you can let yourself be fascinated by the clear autumn sun that colors the surrounding mountains in romantic autumn splendor before the magical northern lights later in the evening seduces you with its cheerful green dance across the sky as darkness falls.

Even in winter Meløy is a magical experience – February and March are prime time for the famous Lofoten fishing, and on clear days we can see straight into the Lofoten Wall. The picturesque Meløy Alps offers some of the wildest off-piste skiing in Northern Norway! If you yearn for virgin snow in a pristine mountain wilderness, then this is the adventure for you and your friends!

In short – in Meløy you will find great nature adventures and activities all year round. For example, the Svartisen glacier is only half an hour’s drive away.

You might rent the whole farm for a weekend or weeks – or by yourself if you need peace to paint, make music or write a book, or just to find your way back to your true nature. You can also rent a room as B&B – if so, just send me an email. It is your choice.

Welcome to Villa Reipå – book at AirBnB.
